Rethinking a standard.
This bridge architecture has become a reference over the past several decades. Its principle is proven, yet its design still leaves room for numerous improvements.
With the AEON-X, FAUVE has reconsidered every mechanical interface: saddle orientation, control of functional clearances, bridge retention, adjustment possibilities and playing comfort.
The objective was not to change the way the Tune-o-matic™ works, but to optimise every detail.
True Axis Technology™
On a compensated bridge, the saddles are generally oriented according to the angle required for intonation adjustment. This configuration can create a slight misalignment between the path of the string and the axis of the saddle.
With True Axis Technology™, each saddle is designed so that the string remains aligned with its working axis, despite the compensation required for intonation adjustment.
This geometry allows the string guide ramps to maintain their optimal orientation, limits lateral stress on the strings and promotes more consistent vibration transmission.
At FAUVE, we believe that a string should always work along its natural axis.
Why ask a string to change direction when it is possible to design a saddle that naturally follows its path?
Precision down to the mechanical clearances.
On the AEON-X, the saddles, intonation adjustment screws, retaining screws and bridge body are designed as a complete system.
All interfaces are machined with high precision to ensure precise control of functional clearances. This approach limits unwanted saddle movement, improves adjustment precision and contributes to more consistent vibration transmission.
The intonation adjustment screws are specifically designed and machined by FAUVE to work with their respective saddles. Their geometry and the precision of their fits directly contribute to controlling functional clearances and limiting unwanted movement.
Designed to stay adjusted.
The AEON-X incorporates lateral locking screws that secure the bridge to its supports.
This system prevents any loss of adjustment during string changes and keeps the bridge from falling onto the guitar body when the strings are removed.
The elongated slots also provide an additional range of adjustment, both axially and angularly. They make it possible to fine-tune the position of the bridge and achieve uncompromised intonation adjustment, even in the most demanding situations.
Details shape character.
The saddles are compensated, individually matched (E–A–D–G–B–E) and pre-radiused to a 12" radius.
The radii have been carefully softened to improve comfort when palm muting, while every contact surface is precisely machined to ensure smooth and durable operation.
Particular attention has also been paid to the string path before the saddles.
Depending on the height of the bridge and the angle formed by the strings from the Stopbar or vibrato, the strings may come into contact with the bridge body before reaching their saddles.
To prevent this interference, the AEON-X incorporates six individual clearances machined directly into the bridge body. Each string therefore has the necessary space to reach its saddle freely, without any intermediate contact point.
The string path remains fully controlled all the way to its contact point on the saddle, without unwanted contact with the bridge body.
As always at FAUVE, details are never merely decorative. They serve a precise function and contribute to the coherence of the whole.
Fully machined from solid material.
At FAUVE, every component is fully machined from a carefully selected solid block of material.
This approach ensures complete control over the geometry of each component, high dimensional precision and excellent manufacturing repeatability. It also provides the design freedom required to create shapes, radii and details that cannot be achieved using traditional manufacturing processes.
Each material is selected for its mechanical and vibrational properties, as well as its suitability for precision machining. Every removal of material serves a purpose. Nothing is left to chance.
